As you may know, this year we lost a dear friend and LYAA teammate.
Griffin Shirey passed away in December 2011.
Griffin was a student at Cotton Creek Elementary school and played baseball for LYAA for several years while his father served as a coach and his twin brother, Nick, played alongside.
Griffin was known by coaches, peers, and parents for his infectious laugh and ability to make others smile. Griffin's teammates appreciated his competitive spirit, commitment to giving his personal best and the sportsmanlike way he supported those around him.
This baseball season we honor and remember Griffin as a beloved friend and valuable player with the memorial patch that appears on the jersey of each in house player and coach.
It is our sincere hope that this patch symbolizes Griffin's spirit and serves to inspire others to embrace their love of baseball. At LYAA we are committed to making every child's baseball experience one that is memorable and one that helps build friendships that bring us together as a community.
With Respect and Admiration,
Ken Parrish
President/Director of Baseball
